For just 2,500 pesos (US$50), one can rent a motorized outrigger (banca) from Ortiz or Parola wharves in Iloilo City and go island-hopping to the neighboring island province of Guimaras where many white sand beaches remain in their pristine condition. Just make sure to bring your own food as the many beaches there don't have facilities yet. Guimaras is touted as the "poor man's Boracay" and is being pushed as a cheaper alternative to Boracay which Ilonggos now find too pricey and too commercialized. One can also buy export-quality mangoes there very cheap.
