What the F*&%$#!??

This one is for the books - unidentified armed men "planted" 22 banana trees along a rough, uncemented patch of road in Oton town, Iloilo to the bewilderment of the people there. To see is to believe, so kindly see this picture below (courtesy of The News Today):

All I can say is, what are the jokers who planted the bananas trying to prove? If this is another one of the "publicity stunts" of those NPA rebels, I do not exactly get the message they are trying to impart the public.

**********

I heard from "highly unimpeachable sources" that Speaker Jose de Venecia was extremely jealous of Muhammad Yunus, the founder of Grameen Bank - a pioneering micro-lending institution in Bangladesh, for winning this year's Nobel Prize. Reports say that JDV was so green with envy that he decided to do this (read this Philippine Star report.)

Have a nice day!

It's also a political gambit.

Scuttlebutt has it that JDV will be facing a formidable foe in incumbent city mayor Benjie Lim for his congressional seat. It is even possible that FVR is backing Lim get back at JDV's treachery when he issued GMA several "deadlines" that went kaput.

BTW, that district consist only of Dagupan and neighboring Calasiao, if I'm not mistaken. So, Mayor Lim is in a good position to beat JDV, which means another goodbye to his prime ministerial dreams, even if Chacha happens either by PI or CONASS.:)

How long would the "micro-banks" would last before the workers and borrowers help themselves grinding them to the ground? Just so pessimistic that when it involves money, just everyone turns green with envy not for the Nobel Prize, but well you know..

Well, micro-financing can work if you know what you're doing, as several successful MFIs like Taytay sa Kauswagan, Radiowealth, etc. have shown. The key really is MFIs should be run by competent, knowledgeable professionals and not by political lieutenants or religious persons.

well, well, well they should have planted those bananas a long time ago. hehehe...i used to live one barangay from pakiad and i know how bad that road is. kadugay na na ginapasemento pero indi gid matapos-tapos. ang dalan nga indi sementado are those wherein damo kontra partido kuno. ti sin-o sina indi mag-ugtas. that road is a short-cut pa naman from oton to mandurriao. and correct if i'm wrong daw national road ina sya.
