Have You Been To Guimaras?

Life in Paradise. A view of one of the many "undiscovered" islands in Guimaras the exact location of which I don't want to divulge lest it turns into another Boracay. Note the big rock protecting the beach from the sea, creating a tranquil mini-lagoon.

Oh my! What a beautiful looking place you got there...

Also, I read your spiel about Palawan - great to hear about the new things that are being promulgated there. I'm a Palawena myself by adoption and I love the place.

I'd like to think that it will be preserved from the odours of Manila!

Yes my family is trying to preserve this island, especially its coral reefs (which have been badly damaged by cyanide fishing). Just last week we released many star fish because they are said to propagate coral reefs. If you are interested, come visit here. Its a private island and facilities are not exactly world class but you can really "commune" with nature here - no electricity, no cell phones and no pesky people.

Iloilo Boy,

Are you serious about the invitation?

I can't wait to tell the hubby and the kids. We are seriously planning to go on a holiday trip to the Philippines but is August a good time to do that?

By golly, thanks a million.

If the invitation is serious, I am dead serious about planning a Philippine holiday.

We are capable of brining our own tents and cooking utensils - serious!

Oh my, thanks so much for making my day...

Smacks to the whole family!

Yes the offer is serious. August is a good time too because it is the onset of the wet season here so the climate is not too hot.

For security purpose, pls communicate to me at omen1021@hotmail.com from now on so we can discuss details.

Hi Iloilo City Boy,

I got your message! I'm in Brittany for the moment, clicking away on my NEW (heheh!) laptop and enjoying the site of the beach which is 30 meters from where I am. I would like so much to take a pic of the scenery which CAN NOT be as beautiful as the island you showed here but nobody can be as lucky as you are... hmmm, wait before I forget, I want to tell you that we cannot make it this August. Hubby did not ask for clearance early enough to travel to Philippines (which is still under travel advisory - hence the need to clear with head office) but we might go in December, fate willing and will let you know.

When I showed the kids the pic, they just howled in UNISON and promised they would be great kids, obedient, polite to Daddy and to Mummy if we changed plans and went there instead. Hah! Now, I know how to get them to toe the line.

But please, don't think I'm not serious about this. If the all-out war is just a lot of all-out air, we will be there and I will take along our sleeping bags, tents, canteen (for water), etc.

I've heard of Guimaras a lot but just learned that it's also very much under the typhoon belt so I reckon, December should be better.

Meanwhile, take care of yourself and give lots of smack (kisses) to that sweet child in the pic for us!

Anna...

those rock islets look familiar. it's possible this is the same place my family had been going to in the late 80s to early 90s. there was a family living there then. they raised goats and carved ashtrays from corals. there was no electricity and fresh water had to be ferried from another island. right across it was the coast of Guimbal in Iloilo.
